Thread: Js550 help

I replaced the throttle cable on my 87' js550, I noticed the cable was keeping the carb open about 1/4 inch, when I started it black sludge shot EVERYWHERE (see pics) I for sure thought the engine was gone, so to experiment I took the throttle cable off and started it again,it ran PERFECT even with me holding the throttle open to start it (approx 1/4 inch), so I reattempted to start it with the throttle cable and once again black sludge shot out! I also noticed that there is a fuel line coming from the tank that's not connected to anything (see pics) where does it go ?? any help would be great thanks.

the sludge you see is normal. it is water, mixed with exh, and extra oil from your motor.
the extra line you are asking about sounds like your tank vent.
