2006 Yamaha GP1300R Build - Long Island, NY

Ive been searching for about a year for a clean GP1300R at a good price. Finally picked one up in NJ, little over an hour away from my town. The ski was a 2006 with 44 hours on it and came with a newer trailer all done up with LED lights too. I paid $4,100 back in September for everything which i think was a pretty good deal. The owner who i bought it from was the second owner and used it about 3 times on a lake in PA since purchasing it from the original owner. It was strickly fresh water used and garage kept. He removed the gold ferrings and put silver ones on it. He also put a Hydro Turf seat cover on it to keep the black and silver theme going. The previous owner before him removed the cat and installed a D-Plate as well as a Riva intake grate. Oh... Cant forgot the blue greenhulk.com billet gas cap too . After a trip to the bank and home depot to get the 1-7/8" ball that I left at home she was coming home with me.

Heres what it looked like when i brought it home:

As OCD as I am the ski needed a really good cleaning and also I wanted to drain the gas tank since the gas was about two years old. I waxed the crap out it and went over the trailer checking bearings and tires.

You probably cant tell the difference but here she is all clean:

My goal with the ski is to get as much as I can out of her speed wise without digging into the motor (Yet?? ). I will be sacrafising some speed by installing Riva trim tabs to keep it handling nicely, stepping the sponsons and a free flow exhaust only to boost the bottom end a little.

The only work i had to do with the trailer which didnt really need to be done was the coupler. I changed it to a 2" ball since my other jet ski trailer and quad utilty trailer was that. Now its time for the ski. After draining the gas, I had to test her out atleast once before she went away for the winter. I went out in October and she ran great. Heres some pictures:

Now for some jetski work.. First things first I picked up a Tiny Tach and installed it near the handle bars right underneath the padding:

I pulled the ferring off and ran the wire under there, drilled a hole and ran it the number one spark plug (Using plenty of silcone to seal up that hole):

Hello, I too have a GP1300, an 08 with 28 hrs. I am currently putting the SS800Intake Grate modded to 1200, an R & D mod ride plate, stuffed shoe kit. and I just put the new Solas 14/20 Dynafly on the shaft. I have not purchased the Filter or FFexhust yet. Let me know what you deside & where you get your re-flash & how much
$$ I bought the prop from GH stoe with 10% discount about $ 120. with shipping. Do you still have the Gas Cap ? My ski is Blue ! I would send you my black one n-trade if interested. or purchased it from you. E-mail me [email protected]

Have you taken your ski out with these mods? Im currious to see how it runs and the numbers it is putting up. I did see the 10% discount here on GH and will most likely buy the reflash thru GH but I am going to talk to R&D first to see what they recommend and hopefully point me in the right direction. The impeller I will probably buy from Island Racing since Carl is only a couple of minutes away from me. So just incase I can have him repitch it for me to a 13/19. I am possibly interest in your gas cap since I do have mixed feelings about the blue one. I will send you an email shortly. Thanks for your interest in everything ill keep you posted here how it is running. Hopefully New York will warm up alittle to get some testing time in.

I bought the Tunnel Reinforcement Kit from Carl at Island Racing. Its a shop right on Long Island near me. The kit ran me $260 and included the Cocco Tunnel Reinforcement Skin, Brackets and Hardware, and Marine-Tex Epoxy. Give him a call or send him an email with your needs. He ships worldwide, the last time I was in there he was putting together an order for a guy in Australia.
