Thread: Speed Update

I rode yesterday to see if I gained anything from removing the bilge siphon and visibility spout. I know for sure I gained .2mph from this. Last Sunday it ran 67.2, yesterday 67.4. I had a few things working against me yesterday that may have prevented me from getting a better number. First problem was my low fuel warning buzzer is stuck in the low fuel mode. Even with a full tank it thinks it is low. I really can't say for sure how much gas I had left. The second problem is my tiny tach has been acting up and yesterday it would not read anything except hours. If I had known my RPM's I could have dialed it in some. The temp was 60 yesterday with low humidity.
This is definetly not going to make me change my signature. Next time I ride I will be testing the Wetwolf AAT cone. After I get that dialed in I will be trying different angles with the ride plate.

Good job!! It's all the little things added together that can make a difference.

You probably picked up a few rpms from those mods.

Has anybody had their low fuel warning act up before? I need to look in my service manual, but does anybody know if there is a way to reset it by unplugging and replugging a connection? Thanks.

You can get rid of it, connecting a cable (jumper) from one lead to another (on the connector that goes from the display to the level sensor), the same works on the oil level sensor.

The fuel sender was a big problem on the 97 gp's. The 2 97's that I own both needed it replaced. It is about a $130 part and they updated it considerably.

Well, I guess since I got 10 years out of the fuel sender I can't really complain.

The problem with the oem fuel sender is that the floats get soaked with fuel and they won't float any more. The replacement gauge it totaly diffrent in how it's made this won't happed again. This is why you can't by parts for the old gauge anymore !
