04/05 RXP instrument cluster upgrade to 06...what do you need?

    Hi,

Soon it will be getting cold here in Australia and basically I want to see if I can change the cluster.

I have searched the site and ccannot find if its possible to upgrade the 04/05 cluster to an 06 version.

    Has anyone done it?

I think from what I can find you need the ECU, MPEM, 06 cluster, and some wiring to the cluster.

    What else do you need?

    Thanks

If your going to go to that trouble you would be better of going 07+ and ditching the MPEM?

Is the 2006 and 2007 similar?
Just thought that it would be a minimal changes between 05 and 06

Naa, 07 has no MPEM. 06 was a transition year.

I'm not sure but I think whichever way you go your changing most of the gear. Probably best to get the lot, that way your not mixing and matching electrics? Best would be to look for 08+ electrics, would give you more options with aftermarket ECU's too.

I was considering this too, the 06' cluster is supposed to work with the 05's (from what i've heard), if u change the steering, and dash harness. U will loose the mode set buttons, but gain a dash that will read up to 10K rpms.(05's stop @ 9K) Not sure if it has to marry anything or not tho....

I think it's easier to go to the 06 as the engines are similar

    Any ideas anyone?

a late 06 engine is the same as 07+ engines. An early 06 has the -72 exhaust valves and does not have the oiler for the throttle body. 08 the pto oiler for the super charger was added.

    Thanks.
Yes, but this should not affect changing the electrical system

Electrical connections on the PTO are different also. 04/05 has separate plugs I think? 06+ they are one plug?

06+ went to external crank sensor 02-05 it was internal.
