    Governed or not?

I was told and I'm guessing it was bs but when I just bought the 2012 fzs the dealer claimed it is governed to only hit 69 but if removed it would go near 80? If this was true wouldn't we all do that first thing?

Sure its governed by Yamaha. Here's how you remove it to go 80....

add the following parts: ET Low Boost Wheel, Fizzle IC, R3 reflash, R&D grate, Intake, ribbon delete, VX rideplate, new prop

Thats one way to get 80!

I'm no mechanic but I wasn't buying it. But it did make me think there was one but maybe it couldn't come off without mods. I heard the seadoo does have something like that but after a fuel tuner or something it works out.

No governor of any sort on the Yamaha.

Actually it is governed, but not in the conventional way: It is set up to run on 87 octane, even though it is supercharged, and it is restricted on the air intake(both by filter assembly and outside air into the boat). Retune for 93 octane with a program that allows more aggressive timing and more boost, with a higher rev limit, then you have the ability to go substantially faster than 69, especially when you depitch the prop to spin faster. Higher RPM=More boost= more speed. All without touching the engine. What a deal actually. They give us a package that is so capable, but restrict it in easy to change ways.

You can run these on 87 without any issues?

Yep, if not modified with programming or different supercharger wheel.

That's one of Yamaha's claims to fame, all the factory stock skis are designed to run regular unleaded.
