    Athena AFR compensation

    Hey guys,

i recently hooked up my innovate afr gauge to my Athena. I confirmed that it works since I can see the AFR's trough on my lapton trough the Athena. But it doesn't seem to compensate because nowwith the cold weather i'm seeing lean afr's at top end.

    anyone any ideas?

    ET Low Boost.

For anyone that is interested in knowing:
Do Not hold the Throttle wide open and think the Athena will cut fuel or spark like the R3 and OEM ECU!!!!!!!
THE ATHENA WILL START AT FULL THROTTLE.
Scared the shit out of me while I was done doing an Oil change and wanted the engine to crank a couple of times before starting.
    BAD RIVA!

Your saying you started the engine while on the trailer and it took off and reved out? Or you held it wide open expecting the ECU to rev limit? Why would you hold the throttle wide open>?

I'm saying I held the throttle wide open to keep the engine from starting. (Yes on the trailer)

I unplug injectors.....especially when doing a free air cal on my o2 sensor........so I don't have to remove the sensor

Thats not something I would ever consider trying. I rarely start modified skis out of water. 2 strokes sometimes run away from you. Once the plugs are hot you can't shut them off. Have to snuf out the air or prime the hell out of them to kill it.

I would have to agree, just unplug the injectors if you do not want it to start.

It's perfectly safe to start a modified ski out of the water. Yamaha put a safety feature in their ECU to stop the motor from starting when the throttle is opened past idle. All he is pointing out is the Athena doesn't have that feature.

BTW, the way to stop lean runaway on a 2-stroke is to hold the throttle open.

Good to know about the Athena. I also didn't know the oem ecu had that feature. Not something I would have ever tried to find out. I should have my Athena direct connect in a week or two I was told.

    Thanks Mark.

I hope we can go back to Topic now and find out why it seems the Athena doesn't compensate with the AFR's
