    GP1300R Idle issue

Start of the season and ive already spent 30mins stranded due to Ski failure. Took the Ski out and the revs were slow on picking up. I aLSO noticed that the trigger seemed heavy. After around 30-40 mins she was able to go flat out then i had a nose dive with warning light and engine management. I immediately hit the kill switch and afterwards the engine wouldnt fire up.

I finally got home and checked out to find all 3 spark plugs ok and no spark from the HT Lead and plug. I fired the trigger 10-15 times and re-tried, i then managed to get a spark so i assume it was a stcky cable, throttle boday or faulty tps.

The The self diagnostics returns an 01 so the sensors appear ok.

Now when i start it it seems to be 700-1000 rpm and very knocky sounding. When i hold on the trigger it runs fine.

Im not a 2-stroke master as this is my first one. A friend has mentioned that due to short starts and attemped starts the crank case could be full of oil and it may need a good run to clean it out along with fresh fuel.

Do you have any advice at all that can help?

    Cheers in advance.

Do you have a compression gauge? Pull each plug one at a time while it is running sounds like it is not running on all three.

    Check compression
    Replace spark plugs
    Test spark

If all of the above checks out, remove the electrical box cover and look for any sign of damage or contamination. Also check inside magneto for water intrusion or damage

Compression was 120 on all 3. I'm naturally going to replace all 3 plugs as a matter of course. They were all equally gapped at 1mm too.

I'm feeling a throttle body issue coming on

the self diagnostic must be done before the ski shuts off. so in other words, if you are riding and something happens you must diagnose it before turning off the ski, otherwise it will read 01.

not sure if this matters but i hope it helps!

If I fire it up at the moment it will return as 01, as soon as I saw the warning light and engine management it hit the kill switch. Just a reaction.

Does it have last seasons gas in it, does it still have the cat converter on it, does the battery seem weak and do you have to keep charging it up, is it an 03 model if it is are the power valves cycling when starting. just a few things to check the not firing was probably the throttle not closing.

The ski has half fresh and half Octobers fuel in. When checking for a spark I only used No.2 I didn't try all 3 HT Leads. It's a brand new battery just fitted. As far as I'm aware the ski is Stock.

    cheers.

Just set the gap on 3 new plugs, test them on the head and all 3 spark. Put them in and test but still the same

    What's the next step?

Does it have a converter on it. have you checked for an exhaust leak. have you checked for a water leak. have you noticed a lot of water in the hull. have you added any fuel treatment to it like fuel injector cleaner for 2 strokes.
