He used these for the larger ones :http://www.polyplanar.com/product/ma...ponent-speaker

They are loud, but all depend on the amp you have powering them.

I wish the OP was an active forum member, I'd like to know how he did this.

Looks good, nice design. I had speakers in my mirrors on my FZS, but the speakers did not have enough full range sound. The 5 1/4 speakers should sound great on the water.

Seems like those speakers would not produce enough power to hear them over the engine while riding. Seems like you would need bigger speakers, since there is nothing for the sound to bounce off of when you are on the water which dramatically changes the sound of the speakers.
I have a friend that installed two 10 inch marine speakers with a separate amp in his 96 ZXI 1100 and they are loud as hell but still hard to hear when riding above 35-40MPH.

I put the same 3" Poly Planar speakers in my mirrors with a Poly Planar Amp. It sounds good considering what it is. I can hear it pretty well upto about 40-50mph. It is nice when just hanging out in the water. I really like the amp because it comes with a volume/on/off switch. I mounted the knob inside the glove compartment along with an aux jack for my iphone. Nice easy clean setup.
