Looking to buy 2002 F12x with 200hrs, is this a bad or good idea?

Ski is very clean, orig owner, asked him to send pics of turbo and wastegate so I could see if any rust. If its been maintained well and there is no rust is 200hrs too much?

One thing that is making me nervous is I can't test it in the water at this time of the year as there is still ice on the lake.

Every turbo/gate will have some rust. If it is caked, stay away. Just rust colored and obvious signs of spray with a lubricant then it may be okay. There are some 3-4 hundred hour things that usually come up. Pumps need rebuild. Carrier bearings go. But the motors usually stay good a long time if left stock. The turbo's are not cheap. 200 hours is nothing on the motor. It's the turbo that worries me on mine. It is a good ski. Challenge in the rough. Going 30-40 mpg is great. Over 40 your into the turbo a bit and will drink with the best of them wot.
I think it is a good ski.

Thanks for the input. If turbo goes, can it be fixed or rebuilt??? I'm assuming new turbo is $$$$, may not even be worth fixing as may be near value of ski.

New turbo can run from 2-3k..........really pretty sad a older 2003 ski my as well just get parted out before shelling over that kind of coin.........now 750-1500 different story.......the turbo cannot be rebuilt it can be replaced......you may be able to contact H20 extreme for a replace turbo

If the ski was taken care of, including spraying the turbo and wastegate actuator, is it safe to say the turbo would last as long as the motor

Maybe maybe not. As in many things thats a crapshoot. But if it has been cared for it should last a long time. And if they have been cared for and the price is right they may not be a bad buy as far as any ski with 200+ hours.
