Protecting New Cluster ?
I bit the bullet and bought a new GTX cluster. Mine got water in it somehow and crapped out the LCD. A fairly common issue from what I read.
Before I install the new one-- and it suffers the same fate-- I thought I'd toss this out--
Anyone have an idea how water gets into this supposedly sealed unit ? It gets splashed a lot, but doesnt stay under water so ?? My guess is that water sits around the housing and slowly seeps in somewhere.
Suggestions on additional waterproofing on the new one ? I am considering running some silicone around the joint of the clear cover and the body (behind the chrome ring). Perhaps drilling some small holes in the fiberglass will let the water drip away from the housing.
