    ssxi steering issue

so i was putting new grips on the wife's ss xi and noticed the steering was loose. it has quite a bit of play down on the stem right before it goes through to inside the hull. it just don't seem right to me. I don't know much about these machines as i ride mostly stand ups. is there anything i can replace that's not to expensive to tighten it up? or do i simply have to just tighten up some nuts? i tried looking but could not figure it out. any help is appreciated.

The nut on mine was very loose when I bought it. Tightened it up to get virtually all the play out of it and it's fine now.

I had the same problem after taking mine out after it sat for years. I think one of the plastic friction washers bit the dust.
