2005 RXT - RPM Surges at WOT.

Hi all. Has anyone experienced or heard of this problem? While running wot, I lose about 1000 rpm and then goes back to wot? This fluctuation continues all day.

The only issue I've had was the throttle control. The shop had a throttle control from a diff model and put it in. Could this be the culprit?

If it has sat I would say bad gas. The lever has nothing to do with it if at any point you get full pull. It's going to be fueling. Make sure your injector plugs are clipped ALL the way on the injector and run a fresh tank of 93 and Sea Foam through it.

What RPM is it at when it looses 1,000 rpms?

Sounds like your all over the Rev limiter. May need a larger prop, or it pitched.

+1 psycho. Or maybe ate a rock at some point, Need some more #s.
ive also seen a lot of NGK's act up, especially after long storage. Enough corrosion on electrodes, intermittent / weak spark on top end.

I'm at a solid 8200 on my 2005 RXT and it does not surge one bit UNLESS it even slightly comes unhooked then it's like it just looses power. It doesn't bounce, just stays at 8200.

If u add pitch, u will get off the limiter, and go faster.... just a hint
Or go to a smaller nozzle ring will achieve the same end result.

I'm already at +4.5mm my friend. I'm past the efficiency point and need the 15/20. Once I finish plumbing the type 5 IC in I might even need a 15/21. I'm on the fence about which prop to get.

try a 15/22R, and an 82mm ring to help

Would SC clutch slippage cause this? Intermittent slipping of the clutch causing an RPM drop...sounds possible...
