    Air filter

I just bought a 08 STX15F With 45 hours and want to do a few mods. Are these small k&n filter look alikes worth the money? Do they make any more power or throttle response? Are they any noisier than stock?

There is no air filter on a 15f and aftermarket intakes don't do squat

speaking from experience, yes they do work well on the 15f, I found that a $25 K&N lookalike made by Accel works just as well as the expensive ones from R&D or Riva, but the fit isn't as nice & the R&D has a nipple for one of the hoses that comes off the airbox, the Riva might also. This simple mod will give you nearly 2 mph increase with greatly improved holeshot vs the stock airbox. The stock airbox does have a 'filter' inside of it made out material similar to a flowrite. There is an increase in noise with this mod, but its not harsh like a loud muffler, its a quieter 'growl' really sounds tough. This mod & a ride plate are the 2 best mods for the 15f. Ive tried it, & many on this site have also.

Air intake, free flow exhaust, R&D Ride plate.... a few free air mods will get you in the 66-67 mph range

No bs, it really works on the 15f model, the stock airbox is very restrictive.
