Just bought a 02 XLT800 for a steal because the back cyl was blown. All needed parts on the way for <$500 and hope to have her water ready by weeks end. I will say tho that the yamalube looked like it maintained the factory cross hatch on the front cyl with 172 hrs on the engine.

Just noticed i said dominator, but in my case I think i am going interceptor since I am factory stock.

DANG! You can run the cheapo Wal-Mart brand if you want that kind of build up. No need to spend the extra.

So how did you get it that clean? I'm going to check/clean mine before this season. I don't run yamalube anymore though.

Its also caused by running Too Rich. Domanator oil I did not like it. 1300R with over 400 hrs with perfect compression and did not even look like it was wore. yamalube. BUT heres the thing if u go big bore the yamalube will not cut it. Does not seem to work with aftermarket pistons and replating. The dom was no better. lots of scuffing. the full synthitec that wal mart sells in the black jug will leave those cylinders like new. That has been my experience from tearing down and building motors. Clean power valves are secondary to scuffed cylinder walls for me.
