New to the green hulk, with questions.

Hello to all. First let me say how happy I am to have found this forum. I have owned boats for over a decade now but I am new to the jet ski scene. I recently bought a pair of 2003 GP1300r wave runners they are totally stock with 95 and 102 hours on them. They start with just a touch of the starter button, unfortunately I didn't get a chance to ride them yet because its just too damn cold and wet here in oregon. I checked compression and they were all around 105 to 109 in all 6 cylinders (2 skis) when I pulled the plugs they were pretty nasty with oil residue. They were ngk BR8ES not -11 so those are on order I also just found out the previous owner was using penzoil premium plus 2 cycle synthetic blend oil. After reading the posts here I am scared to think what the buildup might be. My question is can I drain the inferior oil and fill re fill it or should I just burn what's in there? And do you think the cats are toast?
PS wave eater clips are on order.
    thanks in advance.

Go to Yamaha section and read all the stickys. I'd ditch the cats if you have them and ditch the oil injection and go premix. Install wave eaters or even better go riva gas valves. Tons of info in here on those 2 smokes

    Welcome
-BR8ES will work, you just have to re-gap them... the -11 is a wide gap plug
-That oil is not the devil, so i'd burn it and go with whatever you desire
-I would also get rid of the Cats and go with D-plates
-Oil pumps dont usually fail on the EFIs, just the lines pop off, and those lines have stainless bands on them so you are probably fine
-Get rid of the stock grate as it can get you hurt... go with a Riva or R&D grate
-Also that year was the weakest GPR hull, and had a recall for the pump shoe brackets pulling thru the hull... I would do tunnel reinforcements on both, and make sure the brackets are the newer style. I have seen the tunnels crack with zero mods to the boat. While you are in there and doing the tunnel, and grate, seal the pump shoe to help with cavatation
    -Yes, definately install waveeaters

Thank you WFO for answering all of my questions I will look into the hull reinforcement. Can you explain why the stock grates are dangerous?
    Thanks

Because they are weak and the chunks can also take out your entire jet pump. It can also cause your ski to violently throw you off from unhooking. Like thatdude said, everything you need to know is on the 2-stroke/FAQ section. Use the search and you can be reading for hours and still have lots to learn from this forum.
