95 spx wear ring replacement help?
Hi I have a 95 spx which should be the same at the 94 xp from what I read. When I look it up it shows the spx having the 657x eninge, when I look up the impellor is shows the 15/20.5 and the ski having the 657 eninge. I have the BN-38i carbs the X enigine has but the exhaust is the one the non-X engine has. Is there a stamp on the engine that shows if it is an X eninge or not? When I look up the impellor from sites I get the 271000182 part for that ski with the the non-x engine. My purpose is to replace the impellor with the proper one, I can get a 94 xp off ebay but trying to confirm it is the correct one.
1995 SP 587 580.7 SPI 587 580.7 GTS 587 580.7 SPX 657X 650.0
SPX 657 271000182 15/20.5 SS 140mm XP 657X 271000367 16/24 SS 140mm
SPX 657 271000182 15/20.5 SS 140mm
I was able to confirm it has a 657x engine. I was able to make it out off the tag on the engine. The impeller I believe is the one off the 95 xp 10/22 pitch. It looks like its in great shape. so I will just keep it. needs a wear ring, I believe that is my issue. Finding a seadoo impeller tool is my next step.

I got the impeller off, chipped out the old wear ring, the freezer method did not work for me. I got an aftermaket blue wear ring. I have it in as far as i can get it and on the inside near the vains there is about a 1.5mm gap. Is it ok to have a gap there or does it need to be flush. on the outside it sticks out about 4mm past the end.I cleaned the inside of the pump and got all the corrosion out. I tried to look at pic of people who had them installed. I cannot make out if they have the gap or not but it does look like the wear ring extends beyond the pump. I should have gone OEM wear ring but did not find one until after i purchased this one. It is on straght I have a consistant 1.5mm gap all the way around. any thoughts?

Hey mate you might want to try posting this in the 2 stroke section. I don't know the pump you are referring to, but if there is no step in the end to stop the liner going in the whole way, then there is not meant to be a gap. Try tapping it in with a rubber mallet.
