Ecu options for 185 specific to 2006 model year
I did a search on this but got more questions than answers. It appears i have a problem child ecu on my 06 GTX 185. My question is can i run a 2006 215 ecu with a 185 engine??.
I dont want to fork out for a brand new ecu and its a lot easier to find a second hand 215 ecu than 185 one of the same year.
Its my understanding that in 2006 Seadoo used a different ecu that worked with a different wiring loom and gauge cluster. As such i need to have a 2006 ecu. My dealer told me that a 215 ecu wouldnt work but i have my doubts hearing about some of the earlier models getting away with it.
Does anyone have a 06 185 gtx running a different ecu??? Or is there anyone that could share some light on this??

I have done what you are thining about doing. First--the ECU. The 2006 year model ECUs are year specific. A 2006 215 hp ECU will work on your boat. The dealer will just have to marry it to your boat/throttle body with his BUDDS system. Next--the supercharger. Your 185hp supercharger has 17 teeth on the gear. The 215hp supercharger has 16 teeth on the gear. To have the 215 hp supercharger work on your ski you will have to change the flywheel gear to a 215hp flywheel gear. (then you can the use any upgraded supercharger--ET-Rude-Riva xxx--etc.)You are then good to go. On my wife's 2006 GTX I have made the following mods--X-charger--2006 215hp ECU--42# injectors--Riva RXP rear air kit--85mm nozzel. On a cool day and smooth water the ski will break 71 MPH at 8120 RPM.
P.S. To change the flywheel gear you will have to pull the motor. Good luck on your venture.

To add to Ray's wife's boat above!/
You will need to find a RXP or RXT fuel pressure reg. as the 185s use a lower pressure reg.
They can be found cheap in the classifieds.
Also if you do not want to change your flaywheel you can just drop in a et 127mm drop in and monitor boost and afr to tune it in.
As the drop in wheels will add boost without having to change the flywheel, but you would need to see were it ends up.

I have the entire FPR, rail injectors and hose still assembled. $110 shipped. You want? I was going to use it to bludgeon my neighbor for bitching every time I make a noise in MY garage
