    Extra nipple on 717 motor

I thought that would get everyone's attention. I bought a 1996 HX & pulled the motor to put into an SPX 3 seater that had a bad 580 motor. After pulling the 717 out of the HX, I found that there was what looks to be an extra vacuum nipple on the LEFT side of the motor, towards the rear. The front one is what coincides with the carbs. I cannot find a use or picture or mention of this 2nd nipple anywhere. Anyone have any idea? Thanks for reading. Here it is in the pictureClick image for larger version.

This extra nipple is for the fuel pump.Previous owner may had twin fuel pumps. You can block it off and you are good to go!!

Thanks a lot. If I tied both of them into one pump, would it be too much vacuum?

Block it off, the two different pulse lines pulse at different rates because the cylinders are 180 degrees from another. They work a diaphragm with pushing and pulling. I think if you tied them together. The two would work against one another since they would be hooked to the same diaphragm.

I think my pmc remanufacture motor came out of a boat . It was on the other side. kind of weird when I reinstall it.
