Thread: supercharger leaking.

2008 ultra 250X 73 hours on it, all salt water use. so i plug the water hose to the ski to start up because i added a new riva free flow exhaust and wanted to hear how it sounds, then i look at the supercharger and realized it had three small water spouts coming out the side and leaking it looked like a small sprinklers pissing out. my question is this, Is there a gasket between the super charger and whatever it bolts down too???? What is that part called? I look for it on micro fiche under supercharger but could not find it. I attached two photos as to what Im saying. Also i hadn't had the ski on for about two weeks is it normal for water to be coming out of the exhaust?Im assuming the water cooler stores a small amount of water in it? then blasts it out of exhaust. any tips or answers can help me here.thank you

The leaks your talking about are not out of the supercharger.. thats part of your exhaust with just a plate that says "supercharged" your leak sounds like its leaking between your exhaust manifold and top pipe at the gasket. get a new gasket. torque it down correctly. Easy fix.
Water coming out exhaust is normal. It keeps the exhaust system cool

yes there is a gasket that needs to be replaced
ensure the surfaces are flat and very clean before assembly
please introduce some maintenance to the ski , all those rusting metal bolts etc are signs of problems to come , use Fluid Film or the like or at a min use crappy CRC or WD crap if you must

Is there a possibility that there could be a small loss of power to the ski due to the leak? I just picked up a couple cans of fluid film i sprayed down the rusty bolts. Any other specific areas i should concentrate on while im in there with the fluid film?

yes definatly loss of power if water is leaking into the manifold and worse still rusty valve gear remove the pulley cover and throw it make sure you check and spray the pulleys!!
