2001 yamaha 800 gp looking at buying

I am going to look at this ski in the morning. He is asking $500.00/offer. The motor is torn apart half way. He thinks the lower half needs to be rebuilt. Otherwise from the pics it looks good. Is this a good buy? If I do buy it ill sell my 1995 sl 750. Thanks

man id look elsewhere the 800's are very quick if your looking for speed. a piston kit is 150, renick on jug is 275, gaskets roughly 100.00. if the crank is bad thats 800-900. if carbs need rebuilt thats 400. it can get expensive very quickly and sounds like crank may need to be replaced if the piston shattered off the rod
