    mx140 with domestic 700 engine? .

hi all. how difficult would it be to put a domestic engine in a mx140 hull. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

The MSX 140 is a Polaris domestic 3 cylinder engine, just looks different. Same mount points inside the hull.

Front engine mounts are different between the 2 and 3 cylinder engines..

The MSX hull is a fairly large and heavy hull. It would not be much fun with the less powerful 700cc engine.

The impeller in the jet pump would also need to be changed.

Another major issue is that the electrical on the fuel injected MSX 140 is entirely different from the carburetor engines, so the entire wire harness would have to be swapped.

To me the 1200 thats in the MSX now makes it slightly under powered. A 700 in that hull would be awful.

i have to admit... i nearly did this. and i believe its very easy todo. yes you would need all the loom. you would just need to modifiy the front engine carrier.

you could use a msx 110 impeller, as i believe its a 12/17 that a domestic 700 runs.

i know it sounds daft, by ive owned many 700cc virage skis, and they go fine. the prop pitch helps the hook up. obviously not as fast as a 1200. (but will be lighter)

The msx 110 was about 100hp. the domestic 700 is 95. and much much lighter than a weber engine!!

where are you based? are you in the Uk (ukdude)?

    Interesting topic... I like conversions.

I'm curious what it would take to drop a domestic red 1200 (carb'ed) into my MSX 150 hull... excluding the electronics and wiring.

So the MSX 140 has the same engine mounts as the other 3 cyl domestics. Does the MSX 110/150 have the same engine mounts as the MSX 140?

The MSX models use a unique engine-to-driveshaft couplers... and the driveshaft has a coupler on the end... and a unique through-hull bearing support.

Would the engine-side pto coupler from an MSX 140 fit a domestic (red) 1200?

    Cheers!

Keddano has done exactly that IIRC, red domestic carb-ed engine into MSX Weber hull. Check his build thread, or PM him, regarding what was involved.

The MSX 140 drive coupler should fit the domestic red engine PTO shaft. I dunno if the Weber PTO shaft is different (check the parts diagrams).

Bunch of little things, like the Weber Stop button is wired differently, and the Weber NGI display has no oil level indicator, but it does have a 'turbo' gauge
