2005 FX Cruiser cavitation (Impeller ana Jetpump housing replace)...2nd owner

Is there a write up or diy for replacing the impeller and jetpump/impeller housing? I replaced the jet pump housing and impeller on my 97 gp760 but I have not on our 05 fx cruiser. It is way way worn and needs replaced. I am the second owner and the original owner has never had it replaced and it cavitates very badly. Also I cannot seem to find the exact housing part that I need (except through dealers for the oem yamaha housing and it breaks the housing down into two parts in the parts diagram??!! so not sure which one.) so any advice on a good price on the housing and impeller i need would be appreciated.

Which 2005 FX do you have ? The regular 140 or the 160hp fxho(high output)? They use different impellers for each but same impeller housing.

This is the housing I put on my 03 FX140. Procedure will be somewhat similar to your older Yamaha.

It is the FX Cruiser High Output. Can i just replace the wear ring inside the impeller housing instead of the entire 150-200 dollar housing itself? Also where can the best priced oem core swap impellers and also impeller upgrades be found?

Here is the breakdown of the OEM parts first.
All yamaha's use the same impeller housing from 2000-2013. part # 66V-51312-01-94. Retail $338, cheapest i've found from a discount yamaha dealer is $232 range.

As far as using the plastic replaceable liners. It's a good option at $35. But, the stock stainless liner has to be removed and the housing bored to accept the plastic liner. I don't know who performs this service, maybe impros. Quite a few companies sell the housing already modified with the plastic liner installed.

Your stock impeller is 6B6-R1321-00-00, it's the same for all fxho's(160hp) from 04-08. Retail $290, cheapest I see is $200 range new.
saw this one on ebay. used, but looks clean for $150 http://www.ebay.com/itm/111018922732...84.m1423.l2649
Would probably cost you close to $100 with shipping both ways for impros to recondition yours. Worth a try to call impros and see what they can do for you.1-909-793-2900

I know you don't need the pump and shaft. But, I saw this on ebay and it looks clean and the price is good.Drop in and go http://www.ebay.com/itm/321080594280...84.m1423.l2649

As far as impeller upgrade. you would need the solas YF-CD-14/20 http://www.4-tecperformance.com/inde...roducts_id=150
I don't know if your stock ski is going to have the power to spin this properly. Riva used this impeller in their stage 1 kit which included velocity stacks and free flow exhaust. So it bumped up the HP and rpm some

Like mentioned above the plastic replaceable wear rings require the housing machined out for the thickness of the plastic ring. The cost to press out and machine the stock housing would most likely be greater than buying the housing designed for use with the plastic wear ring.
