    Fzs fuel warning buzzer

    Hello Gentlemen,

I have a quick question in regards to the Fuel warning buzzer on the Yamaha FZS. Im wondering if anyone knows how much fuel is left when the Fuel warning dash/ buzzer begins to sound.

Myself and a friend of mine were doing a Murray River expedition ( Huge river which runs through Australia ), and on part of the cruise heading back towards our camp site we overshot it. Took us around 20 minutes to realize that something was up when began to notice terrain we hadnt seen before. We pulled out the GPS, and a quick check revealed that we had overshot it by around 15 min of cruising!

I ride a 2012 FZS and was on 1 bar of fuel at this stage which began to sound on our way back after checking the GPS.

My friend rides a 2007 Yamaha GPR- He was sounding around 15 min before me, he only just made it back!!

How much fuel did I have left when it began to beep? And would anyone know the distance I would get roughly cruising at around 5000-5500 rpm?

I was running 98 Octane fuel on this occassion, but usually run 91-92 Octane.

Any help is much appreciated guys!

5500 rpm should get you 120 miles......if you can ride it the whole time like that I was seeing 6.67 mpg at 6500

I've gone about 15 miles on the buzzer, and it took just over 16 gallons to fill it when I got back. That was riding at about 5000-5500 RPMs. You could probably squeeze 25-30 miles, but I wouldn't advise trying it.
