Why u should run a AFR on any small mods ...

Just for those who think they are safe by adding some basic mods...

    Your not !!!

    I have RXTX 260 S3 and have been doing some R&D ...

I added a fuel reg and AFR and started with some basic mods ... 4 inch rear air pod and rear exhaust with stock water box

I was told the Seadoo ECU run lean , hell yeah they are lean ...

With basic mods a fuel reg at 60psi static with no ref line I was seeing 13.5 to 14 on the AFR at 8180 revs ...

Had to crank the fuel pressure to 64 static to get 11.8 to 12 AFR ...

So if u think just running some basic mods and ur safe ....

    NO ur NOT !!!

    Get an AFR sensor ....

thing is stock skis run lean but they dont seem to blow up? maybe they are quite tolerant of lean conditions at stock boost?

They pull the timing to stop any major issues but after adding fuel , it pulled harder up top end aswell .

certainly makes no sense for them to run so lean guess its so they can claim decent fuel eco?

It was just to see what a 4 inch intake a rear exhaust would do ....

The air here at AUS is quite lean hence the exta psi ....

The next step will be either a reflash or Riva / Anthena ...

My totally stock 2012 RXPX is adding about 15 pct everywhere above about 4000 RPM. See the red areas on the left plot. Note that this ski had under one hour on the motor for this plot. The motor was being limited to 5.8 lbs of boost and 7650 RPM by the ECU. The highest speed I saw was 58.6 on fairly choppy water.
