I would say stay away from heavy motor mods. Stock engine is best to start out with. I would say modded rideplate, intake grate, intake for the motor, exhaust, and maybe a good impeller.

Too late. Don't change a THING. You will screw up whatever you change. You need at least 2 WEEKS to change something and make a positive change.
Here are some ideas. I appologize if they are too basic:
-Make sure your race numbers are clear and large. Most leaders lose races because their numbers suck ass.
-Make sure your pit stops are quick and efficient. Most endurance races are lost or won in the pits. If you spill, you may get penalized. Every minute spent in the pits, is ONE MILE behind the other riders.
-Make sure you wear a pair of bicycle shorts under your suit, to keep from getting monkey-butt.
-Practice breathing, and relaxing your hands. You WILL get hand-cramps at about the 20min mark. Just relax. Use different grips. To make sure you keep breathing, sing a song, or talk outloud, or yell. Deep, slow breaths.
-Bring spare parts. Keep zip-ties, duct tape, and safety wire on the ski in something safe, along with a few hand tools.
-Understand when your tank is empty. Don't stop for gas too early, and don't run out!
