    2010 sea doo rxt 260 problems

    I'm looking at buying this ski and it has 20 hrs on it. Can anyone tell me the problems associated with this year and model so that I will know before hand what I may have problems with?

    I've heard pump problems but not sure what else is associated.

    Problem/Issues

    Engine is often out of alignment. Can be corrected with an alignment tools.
    Factory drive shaft is to soft and will fail at some point. Can replace with a 2011 C-clip style shaft.
    Rear doors leak water- no great fix yet. Can replace seal with new style seal and double up on the o-rings.
    Rear IBR side mounting plates begin to leak water after a while and require replacing.
    Stock ECU has a GPS limiter and torque limiter affecting 1:1 throttle and top speed. Reflash or other alternative ECU upgrades will take care of this.
    Some have had jet pump bolts come loose. New upgraded bolts available. I've never had an issue.


    Good Points

    Good looking ski
    Can be made to run beyond 85 MPH despite her size
    Tons of room in the engine compartment after you remove the factory air box.
    All the room makes it easy to work on the engine and related components, S/C, Water Box etc..
    Rear Access doors allow easy access to I/C, IBR actuator, etc...
    Handles pretty good considering the size of the ski
    Seat hinges up allowing hands free access to the engine compartment. Some don't like this but I do.
    Dash supplies lots of data/info
    Reverse is great around the dock/ramp. Again some don't care for it but I do.
    Wasn't sure about the fly by wire but after the Motec install is been awesome.

    Other than the driveshaft issue(I got over 116hrs on it) I'd say a very solid ski. Glade Rider said it very well though.

    I've not been easy on mine at all.
    She gets beat like a cheap hooker at a bachelor party..
    No issues and over 140 hrs...
    Yes it gets maintained with an open wallet but I'm wfo 90% of the ride time....

    Haven't heard much about pump issues. Just the pump to ride plate bolts. I think the upgrade was 27 to 30mm bolts and letting the locktite cure for a day.

    Have had my pump in and out many times, testing different props, nozzles, etc, 130-140+ hours no issues...

    I have a guy i know that works as a sea doo tech and has maintained the 2010 rxt-x that i am looking at buying and this is what he had to say about the points that you guys have brought up:

    1. Engine is often out of alignment. Can be corrected with an alignment tools. Engine alignment inspected and corrected at pump bolt replacement as part of the service bulletin
    2. Factory drive shaft is to soft and will fail at some point. Can replace with a 2011 C-clip style shaft. original shaft in good condition. No issues. I have had only 1 issue with the 2010 style driveshaft. Changing over would cost $488 for parts plus labor
    3. Rear doors leak water- no great fix yet. Can replace seal with new style seal and double up on the o-rings.original seal still on the doors
    4. Rear IBR side mounting plates begin to leak water after a while and require replacing. IBR resealed at 6 hrs when IBR module was replaced
    5. Stock ECU has a GPS limiter and torque limiter affecting 1:1 throttle and top speed. Reflash or other alternative ECU upgrades will take care of this. ECU reflashed at 28 hrs
    6. Some have had jet pump bolts come loose. New upgraded bolts available. The pump to ride plate bolts. upgrade was 27 to 30mm bolts and letting the locktite cure for a day. Pump bolts replaced at winterize in december

    This ski has 32 hrs on it that i am looking at buying. The red is the sea doo techs responses. Does this seem like everything has been covered and is in good working order?
