    smoking 1995 polaris slt 750

I see why people buy new. I just finished my wiring problem with my 1995 polaris slt 750. I had to pull the exhaust chamber. After I reassembled it tonight, to finally complete it, I cranked it and noticed a little smoke coming inside engine compartment. I hooked the hose to it, and cranked it and turned on the hose. I poured smoke out the back. The rpms went from 3200 to 1800 but the water was on. There was lots of smoke out the back. After i flushed it, i cranked it again without water and it was still around 2000 rpm. I opened the carbs and it was getting oil. WOw, lots of smoke. Is this normal after you pull the exhaust chamber????

Smoke on a 2 stroke is not a bad thing. Its just burning off excess oil in the engine. Go ride it for a bit and the smoking should pretty much go away.

We rode it a couple of weeks ago. It seemed to smoke more , the more we rode it. It didnt use much oil at all though.

I've never seen a little smoke in the engine compartment. Is this normal after removing the exhaust chamber?? I have never noticed it before

Plus, this is the first time i noticed the rpms lower, but i guess that was the flush.

I tighten down the clamps, I couldnt tell where the smoke was coming from inside the engine compartment. It was pouring smoke from exhaust outside

The stuff in the engine compartment probably got in from outside the ski.

Drain plug, if its smoking bad and the drain bung is out it can travel through it into the hull, be sure its not that and plug it, if not its at some point of the exhaust that you disconnected, they do smoke, not a bad thing.

I bet it did come from drain plug. I had to put a new fuse in the eletrical box. So, when I first seen smoke, I thought it was from the box. I guess it's getting too much oil. It had a cloud of thick smoke at the exhaust. I try to take it to the lake this weekend and hopefully it will do good.

Last thing to fix hopefully, is the gas guage. My red light stays on . I wish i could fix the existing one but i guess i have to order a new sending unit for the gas guage

when i removed the exhuast chamber and put it back together, i put a little marine grease on the gasket. Could it make it smoke like that?
