    99 is no longer available....

I can get you a 96-97 kit, 400.00 + s&h. I think you will need to change your mag housing to the earlier style to use the ealry magnito. I am out of the early type mag housings.

The 4010377 CDI should be the newer style "Gen 3 ' cdi. I'm pretty sure that number is for a 1200 timing curve-which should work fine on the 1050.

Measure the windings of the stator-it will should tell that the stator was updated ( that CDI should only work with Gen 3 stator- so if it runs at all with that CDI #-you can assume it's gen 3 specs). The 99 pretty much uses the 2000 and newer 1200 stator for update purposes.
You will need to test the stator to figure out your misfire.

Going from memory, my understanding is that the only important difference between the 1999 1050 Update Kit and the other 3 cylinder update kits is that the 1999 1050 engine already has the 'new style' flywheel housing with the new style 'Gen III' grommet. All the other Ignition Update Kits have a Gen III stator with an old style cable grommet for the old style flywheel housing.

So in effect the 1999 1050 Update Kit is a stock Gen III stator with new style grommet (same as OEM on all the 2000 onwards red domestic engines) with a Gen III CDI, also effectively the exact same CDI as factory production from 2000 onwards (slightly different ignition timing curves).

I do not recall at the moment if the 1050 Update Kit also included a new ignition coil pack, but those would also be the same as 2000 onwards factory OEM.

The primary advantage of the 1050 Update Kit compared to buying the pieces separately is price, as the Kit was very cost effective. If you use the 1996-1998 Update Kit for three cylinder, the only important issue is the cable grommet is designed to for the old style flywheel housing, and will not fit properly in the new style housing found on the 1999 1050 engine.

So you can use a 1996-1998 Update Kit on a 1999 1050 engine, just need to also swap the flywheel housing for the older type (from any 1996-1998 red engine, even two cylinder). Or buy the Kit, also buy a new style Gen III stator, and sell the stator from the Update Kit.

The 3 cylinder kits do not include a new coil, you keep your existing one. You could theoretically take the stator from the update kit, cut off the plug ends, and then thread the grommet from the old stator onto the harness. You could then replace the cut off wire ends with the correct Deutsch connector to plug into the harness from the electric box. A lot of screwing around, but may be worth the effort to not have to change the flywheel housing.
