fuji motor crankshaft wear ring/collar removal

I bought a new crank for my 94 sl750 from sbt and it does now have the wear collar on the pto end for the crank seals on it. Did they just forget to put it on the crank or is there a way to remove this collar from the old crankshaft?

    Thanks

You have to remove the PTO coupler and it just slides off. Do NOT return your old crank with the coupler or that collar, or it will be gone forever.

From what I can tell its #16. And mine wont come off. Are there any tricks/tips? Will a small propane torch/ heat help me out?

You have removed the drive shaft coupler, correct?

Some torch heat might crack the collar loose. Heat should expand the collar faster than the underlying shaft, just focus the heat on the collar and move it around.

Be sure to have some tools handy to shift/slide the ring once it loosens. Don't burn yourself

Polaris part number 3240089 (RING, WEAR)

Apparently the same part fits 1992 - 1997 blue Fuji engines.

It is also no longer available new from Polaris, and it seems to be hard to find, and somewhat precious.

Perhaps you could ask a local machine shop if they can convince the wear collar to let go.

    I believe I have some new here still. 68.00 + s&h

Becarefull removing your old one, as NOT to mar up the seal surface. DO NOT use pliers, etc that would sscratch, or damage the surface where seal rides.

Give me a call at the shop if I can help.

Simply apply a "small amount" of heat with a crack torch, and gently apply downward pressure between the crankshaft & the collar with a putty knife or gasket scraper. use a small twisting motion at the same time.

Be sure to order the new "O-ring" from Zig that fits onto the collar.

    Regards,
    Randy
