Question Help, 780 SLT only goes 25mph!

My Polaris 780 SLT starts easily and runs well except it looses power if I try to go faster than about 25 MPH. The display indicates ,"Fuel" so it might be a fuel delivery problem. The impeller looks great. Any ideas on why it's lowon power?

Welcome to the Hulk! The 780 CDI has a limiter built in to limit the RPM to 4000 when the warning light is on as a result of low fuel / oil, or high temp. If your tank is full, you will need to test the fuel sender to see if it is working properly. These senders do have a float in them that goes bad, and can be replaced. Check your connections in the electrical box to make sure everything is as it needs to be. To disable the limiter function, you can disconnect the gray wire from the CDI to the circuit board.......

Its probably your RPM limiter kicking in because of the low fuel warning. My first guess is that the fuel float in the gauge sender is gas logged and doesn't float any more.

This sounds like it will be way easier to fix than what I was expecting. I'll have to dig into the tank and check the float this weekend. Thanks for the speedy advice!

All, thanks for the advise. You were both on target. I soldered in a resistor across the fuel sending lines and my 780 now goes over 45MPH!

Have you thought about replacing the fuel sender float? So you know how much gas you have...?
