Well this will put a dent in my riding!

Sometimes winter just makes you wonder if summer will ever return!

No damage to me, but a few home owners lost all ther docks and boathouses

Lake St Clair near Detroit Michigan

All that ice...I couldn't imagine...How long does it take that "stuff" to melt? Has anyone done a "Titanic" that you know of?

Ice is usually gone by mid to end of March. Riding can start around April 30 with a wetsuit and great by end of May
Im on the Canadian side of Lake St Clair about 20 min from the mouth of the Detroit river.

The ice came in like that yesterday, took all of 10 minutes to pile up like that. the ice is 18-24" thick in places. A 50 mph wind can do a lot! It was 30 F with a wind chill of about -5F at the time
Here is a pic of my neigbour, note the cap on the wall is destroyed
and my other dock at my other lot

I ride in northern Michigan, but in inland lakes. We can usually ride by the last week of April. If you're hardcore enough and don't mind idling though some broken up ice along the shore to get to the open water in the middle of the lakes, you can start riding second or third week of April.

Im assuming all that ice will be gone by the end of April. We usually get some 70 degree days here in Michigan towards the end of March along with some 60 degree days that help speed up the process. Usually April start out cold though, 40's, 50's, then 60's and 70's consistantly by the end of April.
