HELP!!! 97 GP1200 Updated Need your opinion!!!
I just bought a 97 gp1200 that the previous owner had rebuilt...
WISECO PISTONS,WISECO HOT RODS AND CRANKSHFT
CYLINDER BORE TO 85.5
WATERBOX MODIFIED AND SHORTENED 3 INCHES
CARBS REJETTED MAIN 2.5 AND ONE SIZE UP ON LOWER
COMPRESSION IS 140 138 138
I took it to a local yamaha dealer and he said that this would be a fast buoy ski.... NOT good for long crusies on the lake??? What do you guys think? What oct should I be running and mix? I am having the injecter removed.

I would think that the dealer said it wouldn't be good for long cruises due to the fuel consumption of the pre '00 1200 for one. As far as a buoy ski, they handled great a lower speeds and were quick out of the hole. You would be best suited running 93 octane or whatever the best premium is in your area, no need for a higher octane in this situation. I think that 40:1 would be sufficient but that is just my opinion, if in fact you're running pre-mix. How does it run??
