    Help ASAP.

    Ok Well as u know two weeks ago we installed a solars 13/19r impeller on my buddies 02 gp1200r. Well when we were done we noticed that the impeller rubs and made a burn mark in one section of the ss wear ring. So i was told by u guys this is normal. You guys stated that i should spray it with the wd40 and then run it. Well ok it seems to run fine when this is done. Also u guys stated that i should go ride it and that it will clear up after a couple of hours or riding. Well we rode for about a half a day (2-3 hours) came home still rubs.

    Now when i start it with no wd40 the thing turns over but it wont run. Its still rubbing greatly.

    Any advice will help greatly thanks.

    I would try a new wear ring.

    take it all apart see were the burn mark is on the wear ring run your finger over it make sure you do not feel a bump there. If thats ok then see were it hits on the impeller if it is only one blade hitting it probally is bent a little and you might want the impeller check out.

    Hey lvnspeed. The wear rings looks to be in good condition. There were no marks on the ring prior to putting the new impeller on. ( no burns meaning)

    If it is rubbing that bad a wear ring is the only way to fix it. If I was you I would call Carl at Island Racing and order the impeller housing that he sells with the plastic wear ring.

    I bet there is marks on it now. Like Jim said is one blade hitting or all 3 hitting?

    If you didnt clean all he old silicone off when you put the pump together it may not have seated right (stator and wear ring) take it apart and clean it then put it together again.

    I have seen this happen all it was was silicone.

    there was a big thread on the outer edge of the 'rebent' impeller's not being true diam.when sent back(box stock could be off too) at their outer edge and scraping the wear ring.look up there with a light in the back and mirror in front,rotate the impeller(make sure the sparkplugs are out of it) and look for the light try to detirmine if its a blade or a swell in the ring..

    have you inspected the pump bearings yet? Also,is the prop repitched?

    This is NOT normal. It sounds like either there was a massive air leak, OR you did not put the dowel pins back in the pump...it's easy for them to fall out, while you are hammering the pump back on.
