2004 STX 15F DO I NEED A NEW IMPELLER? look at picture.

I recently bought this ski from my cousin. It has 91 hrs on it and I got it for $2,000.00. I just got it serviced and they told me I need a new impeller. I looked at the impeller with a flash light and it has minor scratches.... Do I need anew impeller?

What do you mean will it will it work? Its badly damaged, it needs to be replaced. Once replaced it will work fine.

You will experience cavitation and reduced top speed and take off. Also and worst part is added stress on pump bearings and the carrier bearings. When these fail one will possibly sink you ski the other may eat your motor.

Waz gave you good advice. Buy one and send the other off to Impros for repair. Then you have a spare.

Thanks all. I appreciate the advice. Having a spare and a back up is always good. That's what I will do for sure!

Not to mention, cavitation can cause metal damage to other parts of the pump. A jet pump in pristine condition it the easiest and best thing you can do to make your ski perform at its best.

I'm tempted to take it out on water to see how bad it is....it doesn't look that bad in person. What would you do?

Do as you please but everyone is telling you to change or repair the impeller. If the next question is "where can I get a pump from" well we know what you decided to do.
