4 stroke vs 2 stroke gas mileage

Would there be a significant difference between a 2004 Yamaha FX HO 4 stroke and a 2002 Yamaha SUV 1200 2 stroke?

having owned a ported big bore gpr and a Kawasaki ultra 150 and now owning an FZR stage 2 and a VXR stock...I can tell you that you can go about twice as far on a gallon of gas with the 4-stroke..........I would never go back Never ! the VXR is the best bang for the buck in the Yamaha line..it feels like the Gpr but will
kick a gpr's ass....I have several "Kills" against two stroke gpr's with my Vxr.......

One reason is, a significant amount of fuel goes out the exhaust unburned on a typical 2 stroke.
Plus, no oil in the fuel with the 4 stroke so you save on oil too.

When I ride with my friend who has an FZS, he goes through way more fuel than I do with my Polaris 1200cc 2 stroke.
