Bottom case plug screws (T-50 Torx)

What is the crusty yellow shit on them and how in the hell do you get it off? I've tried a stainless wheel in a drill and a scribe. This shit is serious.

And.......does this yellow shit have to be re-installed upon a rebuild or is the o-ring sufficient?

The problem is that my gasket kit includes new o-rings and the current o-rings are basted in this crusty bullshit.

Do you mean Scotch Weld? Is there any other sufficient option?

LOL, yellow loctite, meant for coarse thread in heavy vibration areas. Good stuff. To get it off or to remove the plugs easily, torch the screws but not too long or you'll ruin the O ring. Wire brush and a torch will clean them right up.

Is there an alternative? I cannot find Scotch Lock (or a reference to it) anywhere.

Loc-tite Blue or Red will work fine.

10-4, thanks Beerdart. I think I will stick with Blue.
