Ultra 150 Pump Bearing Re-Install Help!

Searched but couldn't find an answer, but any trick in getting a new pump bearing back into the housing (Ultra 150)??? I have a bearing driver but can't get it to slide all the way in. I've put it in the freezer just a few minutes ago to try to shrink it overnight, just wondering if anyone else has any tricks/tips?

Anyone thinking about rebuilding your pump, I would save the headache and let a pro do it, I've run into too many "surprises".

Well putting the bearing in the freezer overnight and then heating up the housing with some MAP gas did the trick. I used a blind bearing puller to get the cone bearing out. I don't know if it has ever been rebuilt in 10+ years so everything was very stuck!

The two special tools are a must, I bought similar ones to the Kawasaki factory tools from Harbor Freight since the Kawa ones were both over $300 each.

    Blind Bearing Puller

    Bearing Driver

I couldn't get the blind bearing slide to budge the big bearing (it works well for the smaller bearing in the cone. I ended up using the bearing driver and a sledge to get the old one out. Mine had the old style oil seals (metal one) they were pretty stuck, I used a dremel to cut it out, careful not to cut through to the housing.

When re-installing the pump housing over the impeller, mine was rubbing even with 4 shims. I rotated 180 degrees and then it was fine, no rubbing. It looks symmetrical but sometime due to either wear or just manufacturing it sits differently.

    Thank goodness for Harbor Freight!

    I've got a slide hammer and a 20-ton press.
