Question 2006 RXP - cavitation at take off

    Hi all,

My recently purchased 2006 RXP has cavitation at take of - it bounces at rev limiter at take off but once it start mooving the cavitation is gone.

The wear ring looks good from the nozzle, the impeler has some scratches /I think it sucked come rocks but the wear ring was replaced since no marks on it/

What can cause cavitation at take of only, at speed I did not notice any cavitation.

    Thanks

Tiny dings and a few hundredths wear on the ring will wreak havoc on hard take-offs, ie loooots of cavitation.
Pull the impeller and if dinged, send to have fixed or buy new. Replace wear ring regardless. You'll definitely notice the difference.

I was looking for wear ring and got confused - on the ski the wear ring is black, everywhere the OEM ring is white - is OEM ring black or white?

All the ones I have seen have been white.

I ordered a new wear ring on E-Bay last year that was not a quality product. I noticed it was not a tight fit when I put the prop in. Went ahead and put it all back together and it had the same issue you described. Ordered another that was an OEM ring and problem is gone. Sounds like you may have gotten a Knock Off wear ring like I did.

    Use oem wear ring.
Lasts longer than the knock offs.

Could be the neoprene seal as well. When they went cheap and used a aftermarket wear ring. Maybe they didnt replace a bad neoprene seal.....

I will take off the pump on monday and will inspect the impeller. Will purchase wear ring and the seal for sure, I will inspect the condition of the impeller but i suspect it is not the best you can imagine. What impeller should I buy if replacement is needed for bone stock 06 RXP?

Just curious, how many hours before your charger blew??? Are you the original owner? Are you fresh water user only or a mix?
