    4-Tec engine oil question

I have always used the Sea Doo brand oil for all my past and present Sea Doos. My neighbor switched several years ago to Castrol 10W40 and says it has all the same specs. We actually put my Sea Doo brand gallon Jug next to his Castrol and the specs are all there. My question is, anyone else using other brands of oil in their 4-tec machines? I have been afraid to change brands. I have always changed my own after the local dealership over filled by at least 1/2 " on the stick, my one and only oil change I let them do.

I use amsoil 10w40 motorcycle oil

It is wet clutch compatible for the supercharger clutches. It's worked great so far for me. They also make a marine oil that some people on here use. I just got the motorcycle stuff under cost from my boss since he no longer has a bike to put it in and wanted it gone from the shop.

Is your ski supercharged or naturally aspirated?
Sea Doo recommends using their oil, which is a synthetic blend in the supercharged applications. If this is not used Sea Doo recommends a 10W-40 non-synthetic motorcycle oil. As seen, many people are using a full synthetic motorcycle oil against the Sea Doo recommendation. I would love to run a full synthetic but will stick with the manufacture recommendation for now.
For the naturally aspirated Sea Doos you can use synthetic oil.
Overall why risk tearing up something. Just buy the Sea Doo oil and be done with it.

The issue is to NOT use synthetic oil with friction modifiers.

Thanks to all that responded. Have one SC and one Non SC GTX to answer the above question. Knew we were not suppose to use synthetic so will check out the Amsoil write up. Thanks again.
