95 kawasaki zxi rebuild / 94 kawasaki super sport xi
getting ready to start rebuilding. paid $125 for this ski. brought it home and primed it and put hot battery in it and she fired right up. 160 compresson on the cylinders. the bottom left side needs some glass work done and the nozzle on the back is broken but other than that shes clean and ready for the table and teardown. been 3 years since in the water.
also looking at fixing this little beast. paid $125 for this ski too. 94 super sport xi. this thing is not stock. haven't tore into it to figure out what all has been done but i know the plate, impeller, carbs, exhaust, and head arn't stock. if not i'm just going to part it.
any tips on the zxi would be great. also do these skis have the same motor? can i swap the heads and carbs from the ss xi to the zxi?

DAMN! You've got more broken crap than I do!
To my knowledge, the engines are not the same. The ZXi should have the 'big pin' (22 mm wrist pin) engine and the '94 might have the 'small pin' (20 mm wrist pin) engine. I'm not certain when they changed, I think in '95. I think the heads will swap, along with the carbs.
The pistons, crankshafts, and cases were different. Some have 12 studs holding the intake manifold on, some have 10. I thought the 10 stud was indicative of the small pin engine, but I've learned that's not a reliable way to tell.
