    Correct tap and drill size for taping exhaust manifold.

    Whats the correct tap and drill size to put the bosch sensor in the manifold.

    16.7 is streching it in alu.

    On me second try I ended up taping directly from 16.0mm. Lots of lube and easy on the tap gave me real nice threads.

    In aly I have used both the 21/32 and a 5/8th and I prefer the 5/8 and a stable surface to tap from.

    Thats a fair call, it is the recommended size though for m18 "one size" tap.

    I am almost 100% sure 16.5 is the recommended drill size for M18x1.5 if your using metric drill for metric tap =)
    21/32 drill would be close to 16.7. Why anyone still uses inches is beyond me

    Edit: It is not my intention to start an argument over .2mm

    You could be right, maybe we have funny charts here in Australia...

    I think you could get away with anything from 16mm-16.7mm.

    I found that when my drill press had bad 'run out' 16mm was the best, now bigger with no run out.
