Any speed gains with a modded/aftermarket water box?

Are there any real gains to be had from running a modded stock or Riva waterbox on a modded FZR? I'm not concerned about better sound, only interested in a speed gain, and I already have a JD1 rear exhaust on the ski.

The amount of performance gain acheved is going to depend on how much the ski is modded. A ski with an upgraded charger for example would see a bigger gain than a stock ski would see by moding exhaust only. Havin said that im sure a ski with a stock charger will see gains in HP also just not as much as a more modified ski

Ski has all the usual mods plus a 15.5 wheel, fizzle ic and jd1 rear exhaust.

no measurable mph gain just stronger acceleration and ofcourse nice WOT sound.i dont think youll see any gains until boost is closer to 20lb cause guys in that range usually dont run exhausts at all.if you still want to try it i have a gutted and shortened box im selling works and looks perfect.

I think a dryer box would do better than a gutted one.

I've thought about that as well and I'm curious why people aren't running a jetworks system like we had on the GPR's? I know that JD1's water line routing drys out the box some using an inline restrictor.... maybe I'll try that...

That's what I'm running now. Just no time or good weather to fully tune and test.

A restrictor with a 3/16" hole in it.

Let me know how that works out for you when you get a chance to hit the water! Where did you get the restrictor?
