Is riding with headphones safe/Legal?
I want to listen to music when I ride my Sea Doo. I don't want to mount speakers on my ski b/c I'm not very tool savy and I want to keep the cost down. So I was thinking I could just get a waterproof armband to hold my iPhone and then some waterproof headphones/earphones.
However, Is this safe and/or legal? I think listening to music could hamper my ability to be completely aware of my surroundings. Also I'm only 16 and I could see a cop giving me a hard time about listening to music with earphones while driving, but from what I can see online it appears many people listen to music through earphones.
P.S. Also any advice on good water proof armbands and/or earphones.

I do it? The alternative is loud ass ripping wind noise at 70mph! ..... so why wouldn't you?

Wow, when I get close to 70 MPH my mind is not on weather or not, I can hear music much less even try to enjoy it! If I did hear music I am sure it will be the sound of angels calling me home. Ha Ha Come on now do not encourage a young rider to be blasting music in his hears while blasting on the water. I for one want him be be fully aware & alert ... I be out there on the same water with him.

Eyes and ears on the water are the most important thing you can have.

Most of us in our group where ear plugs and or earphones. Reason is to protect ears from damage due to the wind noise or water. We typically ride 70 miles so it can be pretty hard ears especially at the speed we run.
Have seen people put their I-pods in a waterproof bag and attach to their vest.
However, not sure if this is legal and might not be the greatest thing for a 16yr old. Your ears are part of your periphial view so try to use your best judgement.

I used to wear headphones when I rode way back when before I-pods. Now its ear plugs all the time.
