Thread: GTR or SHO

    GTR or SHO

Just sold a gp1300r and want a new ski, Preferably something that handles the chop well

I am considering buying a used 15f, sho or new vxr (very cheap left over 2011) or 2013 GTR at RRP

Can anyone tell me how a GTR compares to a SHO in the chop and a general comparison

    Ta

GTR handles the chop better than sho.
It's built on a proven platform that's almost bullet proof.
The sho skis have the nanoxcel hull and its lighter but bounces more in rough waters.
I've had both skis and they are both great performance skis.
If your in salt water the gtr has the closed loop cooling and the sho skis are still sucking in salt water to cool.
What ever you buy get the max warranty possible.
New skis are great but when they break they aren't cheap to fix.

The 15f is one of the most reliable skis ever built. What do you want to use the skis for? Do you want to modify them? What type of water do you ride in (choppy, flat?)

I agree wholeheartedly about the warranty though, on a ski it's dumb not to, of any make.

If you want something that handles the chop well, stay clear of the VXR.

My 2 kids loved going on the ski me last year so i now want something more stable as i ride in the sea in flat conditions with occasional swell which made the gpr porpoise, At the opposite end of the scale i do like to go out with my mates wave jumping and riding surf in 10ft plus waves

The 15f seems to be the cheap sensible option as they are bomb proof and cheap to buy & run, I also have the option to buy a sho for the same money with the less hours which has trim and a few other options, the GTR would be new at double the price of the others but does everything, hmmm

I will leave the engine stock but add hull mods

I ride in flat water with family and wave jump with my mates , so needs to be a good all rounder if theres such a thing

You can typically find great deals on left over new 15f's for under 7k. Honestly I think they are one of the most fun skis out.
