How good is the F15X
Currently I use my 07 FXHO as a fishing platform its a good ski but its not as dry as people make out and dosent handle the rough as great as people make out. I have read a lot about the F15X I wish they still made them it seems to tick all the boxes. But I would love to hear from somebody who has ridden the F15X and the 2013 FXHO I know the F15X is Turbo but its consumption should be way better than a SC ski.I think the F15X still stacks up well looking at the specs can anybody with experience confirm this ?
1/ Is it a dryer ride than the latest FXHO
2/ How does the fuel consumption at cruise compare to the latest FXHO
3/ Is it a softer ride than the latest FXHO
I think if I can find a new or very low hr F15X it should be the ultimate go fast fishing ski and it will be a bit different to what most of the PWC fishers use here in New Zealand.

Wally, can't speak for the Honda, but the newer FX-HO's 12/13 year are really nice, smooth riding skis. Deeper "V" and full keel. They are approx. 63 mph skis stock, and for less than $75.00 and some home engineering, they are solid 65-66 mph. The 1.8 liter HO engine is a nice upgrade from the 1.0 liter mr-1 engine. Good luck !!!

There is a reason why they don't build Honda skis anymore.
They are prone to busting turbos.
When a turbo on a Honda takes a dump its 2-3000$
Stay away from Honda.
Especially if your going to use it in salt water.
The turbos rust quickly and then your screwed.

Thanks Rooster I know the new FXHO is an improvement on the older models its good to hear you impressions on its ride at my age its pretty important thanks.Wotxxsd interesting I was under the impression they were pretty bullet proof I know you have to keep an eye on the waste gate but I will look into the durability of the turbo unit. Cheers

I see aftermarket Turbos are as cheap as $1000.00 I have researched the Turbo issue and sounds like the waste gate care and maintenance is the issue.

I think there are 2 guys whose opinions you need and that are Mac and RickWhite. I bought my Honda because it’s the most reliable ski!! Mac from macsboost.com says those turbo’s will last forever. As for the waste gate you need to spray it with crc-656 after every ride. RickWhite has a lot of experience with both Honda and Yamaha skis.

Thanks Noidea I will try and track them down, the F15X's are pretty rare down here. I will take a 2013 FXHO for a spin but finding a F15X could be a problem, that's why I would love to from somebody that has ridden both.
It stands to reason going from a N/A engine to TC will require a bit more care.

The Honda handles rough well as does the Yamaha. I have ridden both.
The guy above talking about turbos breaking and such knows nothing and goes from thread to thread bashing other brands.
The F-15X is a very good ski and they are about 3-4K less OTD than a Yamaha. Only hull better in the rough is a Kawasaki Ultra.
You need to spray down turbo/waste gate after each days ride. Other than that regular maintenance. It is much easier to maintain than any other boosted ski.

Thanks rlovebk it seems to me the F15X dosen't get the respect it deserves. I think re the comment he made about Honda's not being built, made me think Yamaha Seadoo and Kawasaki are lucky Honda don't make skis any more.
When 09 stacks up against 2013 says a lot about the ski. And your right there is a big price difference.
