2009 RXP 7860 RPM, 68mph. Does it need supercharger work?

I had a "new to me" 2009 RXP out today for the first time. 133 hours on the unit. Previous owner said the charger was rebuilt 6 hours ago but could not prove it.

80 degrees air, 50 degree water, Glassy, Trim Full Up

    200# rider, 7860 RPM 68MPH
    160# rider, 7900 RPM 69MPH (touched 70 once)

    What do you experts think?

Are those speeds actual gps or the speedo on the ski? A stock RXP should see 66- 68 mph @ 8100 rpm.

Don't stock rxpx only rev 8000rpm? 68 is about right for a stock one. Also try lowering the trim to just above level and see what happens. All the way up is to much load on the motor.

Yes but it is an rxp 215. I think it probably could use a impeller wear ring or plugs. Check the oil levels

Those are speedo speeds from the ski. It does not turn 8100 rpm.

The wear ring would not cause a lower RPM, would it? I thought I read that supercharger slippage would cause a lower RPM.

Just because your rpms are low doesn't mean there is a problem. The previous owner may have installed a 14/19 prop or something like that. Do you know any history on the ski?

Yes a worn wear ring could cause lower rpms . Slipping charger would cause rpm to fluctuate when maxing out plus other things like a slip feel when you punch it from 6000 and up.

I would check and change some easy things 1st.
    Change the spark plugs.
Add a double dose of fuel Injector cleaner.
Check the oil and make sure its not over full, it should be 1/2 between the marks on the dip stick.
Put your VTS 1 click above the middle.
    Then test it again.
You should be spinning @ 8100 rpms.
Sounds to me like your over full on oil or your plugs are older.
I'd also be calling the previous owner to get to track down who rebuilt the charger and ask if bearings and washers were done.
The bearings are just as important as the washers and if they both weren't done then you need to get them done.
