Wrong bendix on a ZXi 900???
Worked on a quite a few ski's but they were always in one piece when I started - I got a great deal on a Clean, near mint condition hull 1997 ZXi 900 - long story short, he tore the ski down, had the engine rebuilt and didn't have time, and I feel knowledge to attempt to put it back together, now I got it in pieces. I assembled the ski all back together, which went very well and also buying any part I needed like the block off plate, steering cable, ect, but when I hit the start button all I get is the starter spinning.... damn must be the bendix but I can engage it by just sticking my finger in the starter hole and spinning it - just in the opposite direction as needed??? It also looks very clean as if new - I took the flywheel cover off to inspect, now it's just time to buy a fw puller.
Could they of put the wrong bendix on? Does anyone know of bendix's designed for different directions
I expected some speed bumps in this job but I am stumped on this one

no ideas? anyone that has had a bad bendix -what did it do - was it seized, or just didn't activate

Not unusual for one to slip. Probably more likely if water has gotten into the bottom of the engine because they really aren't sealed that well.

not the bendix..... maybe the starter is not spinning fast enough, although it seems to be a decent speed.

Well it was the starter no spinning fast enough - which is a first for me.
