    1996 Polaris Hurricane

Hi, guys. I know this is probably answered somewhere on here but I just picked up a 96 hurricane 700 in nice shape with great compression. It has no spark. The guy I bought it from changed the black box, the cdi and coils and everything to the update 4010803 and the newer style(small)coil. However, I don't think he changed the stator to the newer style. He probably didn't know you had too. So if anyone could tell me the part number of the stator I need that would be great. Or if someone has one they could sell me all the better. Pic is what I have. Need stator right? Thanks much, Ham.

You can ohm test the stator to verify which version you have. The Gen III stator coils have very different ohms than the older stators.

Details on stator testing can be found via my signature links, in the red domestic section.

    I'm in Kaukauna, WI

Thanks a lot guys. I will test the ohms coming out of the stator, but I'm pretty sure it's the original. Sweet... hopefully I can find a stator. Is there any stator out of a later ski that would work? Seems like the 4010402 is hard to find now.

Will 4010172 work? I think it has a wiring plug instead of the straight wiring to the box, but I can modify that. Any info would be great. Thanks. Also...do I have to change the mag/flywheel? or is the original going to work. Thanks.

Electrically the 2 stators are the same. The plug and cable exit grommet are different. Flywheel stays the same.

Sweet man. Thanks. You ever get up on Winnebago? Probably see you out there some time if you do. Cheers fellow Cheesehead.
