Convince me to buy a FZR/S

I'm in the market for a new or slightly used ski. I currently ride a Kawasaki Ultra 150. I want a 4 stroke ski and I know I will want to modify it. I've been looking at mostly SeaDoo RXP/Ts (I am in the air about a 2 or 3 seater). From my research, those skis are very easy to get into the mid 70s. I happened to drive by a local marina today that was doing a open house and test drove a brand new FZS. I was told that the only difference between the S and R is the actual seat itself. They weigh and handle the same. Is this true? I really liked how much giddyup the ski had and it still handled well for how big it is. How easy are these skis to modify, both handling and power? Can they get into the mid 70s easily? Has anyone rode the Yamaha and Seadoo skis who could shed some light on the differences? How fast are they stock on GPS? I had the FZS showing almost 80 on the speedo pretty easily, but I know that's inflated a bit. Thanks!

80 seems a bit high! but i love looking at the speedo when its telling me 80 and in reality im doing under 70! the fzs/r is rated stock at 68.4mph, fastest jet ski on the market. as for the difference, the fzr is a 2 seater and the fzs is a 3 seater. is you compare them side by side the only thing you will notice different is that the fzs has a slightly larger seat.

If you are coming from an ultra 150 I would seriously give a VXR/S a look as well.

Unless you want to build a top speed machine.

It's pretty easy to get to the mid 70's and with a bit of money the 80's as well. The engine itself IMO will hold up much better in a modified world than the others and you wont have to do all that much to the internals until you really start to make some power. Mid to high 70's would be cake on the FZ/SHO platform.

I went from ultra 150 to gpr to fzs. I have to say I feel the ultra was the most fun to ride but the fzs is a close second because I the raw power. I am also a bigger but and the fz is super balanced vs the ultra 150.

The acceleration of the FZR will make girls wet. Buy FZR, get chicks. Simple.

I had an RXP......... Sold it, got a Yamaha. I do not miss the Doo a single bit! I dont miss worrying about my carbon seal crapping out and sinking my ski. I dont have to worry about the supercharger imploding and taking the engine with it. I dont have to worry about checking the slip on the SC every week. I dont have to worry about the timing chain breaking and everything else that comes with that. Yea, dont miss it.

Yamaha uses metal where Seadoo uses plastic everything.
Seadoo hulls have more stress cracks than California.
4Tec SC design is still horrid.
Better have insurance with a carbon seal PWC

Seadoos are fast as hell out of the hole and rail in the turns, but their quality is maddening.
