Has anyone tried the WORX Intake grate
I've seen this intake grate made by WORX Racing Components of Austrailia; the model # is WR218, used for 00-06 GPR 800, 1200 & 1300. It's called the MaxiLoader.
Any feedback on this unit??

yes, in stock form it is 1 to 2 mph slower than R&D
it sure is a much nicer fit and finish though and with it's 2 bar design it would be stronger
I modified mine and filled in the rear cut out of the wing - this then gave it similar results to a R&D 1200 grate
this is the grate I normally use for rec riding

Would this be a substantial improvement over stock 1300 grate? I'm not so concerned with the optimal speed increase, but more in the strength of the unit.
Ps. any pics of the mods you did to it?

the stock Yamaha grate is not safe to use on any modified ski - it lets the pump get over stuffed which can lead to the ski doing a violent sharp turn on you
the mod I did was simply to weld in a piece of aluminum to fill in the notch in the rear of the wing and at the same time I extended the length of the wing about 1/2 inch

JP you'll be fine with a 1200 grate.

This grate is the best grate I have ever used for hook up. It will slow the ski by a few mph, but if you ride in the rough/ocean/surf-it's the way to go.

with my mod it is marginally faster than a R&D 1200
